Honestly speaking, Everest Three Passes Trek is very difficult as compared to other treks in Nepal. Trekking over 3 High Passes which are over 5,000m is extremely difficult and tiring to climb. This trekking package is 19 days long which takes a lot of stamina and physical strength to complete. Trekkers have to walk for 6-8 hours a day in a sloppy, flat, rough, snowy, and rocky trail which adds extra difficulty to this trek. Hence, it is recommended to have preparation 2-3 months before trekking over 3 Passes. Teahouses along the routes are very satisfying for taking rest which provides some ease while trekking. But the magnificent views of Himalayas, glaciers, sky, and surroundings make you forget all your tiredness and sorrows and hypnotize you by its beauty.

After arrival at Kathmandu Valley, our representative/crew member will pick you up from the airport. And, take you to your hotel at Thamel, the central point of tourists in Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel.

    Today is the day for Kathmandu City Tour which is a 1-day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. That takes you to different historical and cultural sites of the Kathmandu valley with our guide. After having early morning breakfast we start the Kathmandu tour to sacred Buddhist and Hindu temples Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, which reflect the local culture and tradition of Nepalese society. Then. We visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square. All these sites are enlisted UNESCO World heritage sites. Tour ends In the evening and our crew member will drop you to your Hotel.

       We take an early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla which takes 30 - 35 minutes to reach. During the flight, you can see the snow capped mountains and greenery hills and forests, rivers, villages and more. From Lukla, we start our hike to Phakding passing through the forest and crossing Dudh Koshi River over suspension bridges. In Phakding you can climb to the Gompa to see your first glimpse of the high peaks. Overnight at Phakding.

        From Phakding the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River and reaches Zampatti which offers an excellent view of Thamserku peak. Then the trail climbs to Chomoa, the site of an agricultural project, an interesting place to have a look around and gain an insight into the farming way of life of these people. From Chomoa, the trail again climbs to Monjo (2840m.) and enters the Sagarmatha National Park also called Everest National Park ( a UNESCO World Heritage Site). 
         

          The fifth day at Namche is a rest day for the proper acclimatization with some excursion. We can hike to the Everest View Hotel, the ideal place to overview some of the remarkable mountains peaks views such as Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse, etc. You can walk around the Khumjung valley, Hillary School and Khunde Hospital and then back to Namche. In Namche Bazaar, you can spend some time interacting with the fun-loving and very welcoming Sherpa and Rai people.

            This day we leave Namche bazaar, walk for some time along the ridge, and then descend to Dudh Koshi River at Phunkithanka. Then after crossing the bridge, we ascend in the steep path up to the Tengboche. On reaching Tengboche you will see the ancient monastery which is the largest monastery of this region. Overnight at Tengboche Guesthouse.

              From Tengboche, the trail drops to Debuche crosses another exciting suspension bridge on the Imja Khola and climbs to Pangboche amongst thousands of Mani stones. Our uphill trek continues, taking us to the quaint traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche with its exquisite views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. We take slow and easy steps to avoid altitude sickness. Overnight at Dingboche Guesthouse.

                Today is another day for acclimatization with only two hours of walk. We will have a short trip to Chhukung Valley via the Imja Khola Valley. We get a marvelous view of the surrounding mountains, especially Lhotse’s massive south wall.

                  This day is difficult as we cross the Kongma La pass. At first, we walk in the plain area of the valley and then ascend the steep path to the Kongma La pass amid the crags of this outlying ridge from nearby Nuptse. From the pass, we descend steeply to the Khumbu Glacier (the highest glacier in Nepal). We cross the glacier and head to Lobuche.

                    This day we trek to Zongla toward the Cho La pass. We ascend gently on the flank of the Lobuche and descend slowly to the foot of the Cho La pass where we set up camp and stay overnight.

                      This day we cross another high pass, Cho La Pass. We have to walk in the steep path over rock boulders that makes climbing very difficult. But, the views of glaciers are breathtaking. Cho La Pass offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Then, descended down on another side of the pass and trek to Thangnag for overnight stay. 

                        We walk along the glacier route until we reach Gokyo. The trek is easier over flat path following the Dudh Koshi River up to Gokyo. It is a windy valley and situated near the Gokyo lake. Get stunned by the immense natural beauty of Dudh Pokhari Lake and Gokyo Lake. 

                          We take a resting break at Gokyo and explore the Gokyo valley. Gokyo is a trade center where the Sherpa people run lodges to provide the best services to the trekkers. Beautiful Gokyo village resides by the side of Ngozumpa glacier, the biggest glacier of Nepal.

                            Early morning we cross the Renjo La pass. From the pass, we can see the views of Everest, Lhotse, and surrounding mountains. Along with the beautiful scenery of the Gokyo Lake and Gokyo village below the Ngozumpa glacier. Then, descended down on a stone staircase to Lunde where we stay overnight. 

                              On this day we trek down to Thame, a sprawling village. The village of Thame offers stunning views of the mountains like Thamserku, Kantenga, Kusum Kangguru, etc. here you can explore the village and visit the monastery established around 300 years ago.

                                Today, we begin our walking in the flat trail and then descending to Thamo. In Thamo you can visit the Khari Gompa where you find Nuns and Monks. Then we head to Namche Bazaar. And, overnight there.
                                 

                                  Finally, we return to Lukla where the trek began, which will seem like a lifetime ago. Enjoy the wonderful views of mountain peaks and its nearby surroundings along with exploration around the Lukla. Overnight at guesthouse.
                                   

                                    Enjoying your last glimpse of the mountains, recently visited for one last time on the 35-minute Scenic flight back to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu, you dropped back to your hotel for overnight.

                                      The trip ends, our Representative will drop you to the Kathmandu International Airport for your flight departure from Nepal. And wishing you a safe flight back home.

                                        Food and Accommodation

                                        At Everest Three Pass Trek, you will be staying at five nights at Lukla, Phakding, and Namche which is 3 nights in rooms with a private attached bathroom, and eleven nights at the standard rooms at Thame, Lungden, Gokyo which is 2 nights, Dzongla, Lobuche 2 nights, Chhukung, Gorak Shep, Thangnak, Pheriche (twin sharing). You can also enjoy hot showers at these lodges by paying a small fee. You may also require two nights hotel stay before and after the trek, but it is not included in the package. Kathmandu has a wide range of hotels for all sorts of budgets and tastes.

                                        We hand-select the lodges for fresh, hygienic, tasty, and food. The menu consists of traditional, Asian, and Western cuisine, but as we climb up, the menu will become shorter. Make sure to try Nepali foods - Dal (lentil), Bhat (rice), Tarkari (curry), Momos (dumplings), and Chow Mein (noodles). 

                                        We highly recommend you take lots of liquids - green tea, lemon tea, hot lemon, ginger tea, and garlic soup(must). Similarly, we also advise you to eat fresh vegetables. Though plenty of non-veg items are available at the trek regions, we do not recommend them because the meat could be hygienic. We also encourage you to lessen your intake of dairy items, alcoholic drinks, caffeinated items, and hot chocolates.

                                        Best Time and Weather

                                        September to November is the peak time for the year to go at the Everest Three Pass Trek. The sky is cloudless and the views are breathtaking to behold. Plus, it is the best time to visit Nepal because these are the months of festivals here like several Jataras, Dashain, Tihar, Chhath, etc happens in these months. 

                                        The temperature also ranges from 15-25-°C (59-77-°F), perfect to travel. The other best time of the year to go on the Everest 3 Passes Trek is from March to May. The climate usually stays hot in the lower regions and moderate in the upper parts. Temperature ranges from 15-20-°C (59-68 °F). As the winter has just ended this time of the year welcomes many spring vegetations and flowers.

                                        Everest Three Pass Trek FAQs

                                        • Trekking requires lots of willpower, tolerance of harsh conditions and reasonable fitness, good health and physical condition. It is vital that participants with pre-existing medical problems or conditions make these known to the time of booking. But trekking is not the climbing trip so no needs any technical experience. 

                                        • There is no particular age limit for trekking in Nepal Himalaya at all. Anyone with outdoor attitude and passion for walking are fit for trekking. But, you are expected to have good physical fitness, positive attitude and endurance. Having said that additional requirements depend on the type and nature of treks you choose. 

                                        • Nepal is, undoubtedly, a naturally beautiful country that enjoys pleasant weather round the year. We have main two seasons for trekking. The best months are September, October & November during the Autumn season and March, April & May during the spring season are consider as the best seasons for attempting trekking, although we do have departures during some other months as well because we would like to offer some opportunities for some people who can not make their holidays during Spring and Autumn. The best months has been defined due to their nature of best visibility and best weather condition other then. 

                                        • The government of Nepal no longer requires a trekking permit for Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, and some other regions; however, conservation permit or National park permits are required for these regions. There are few restricted trekking areas in Nepal, where trekking permits are required. Trekking permit is a special permission given to you by the Nepalese government to visit the restricted areas.

                                        • The duration of the trek depends on your interests and where you want to go. Generally, your trek can range from 6-7 days to month time or longer periods if you wish. Even the same trek can be done in a different duration for different trekkers depending on their wishes and interests on the route. 

                                        • In the Tea House trekking arrangement overnight halts with dinner and breakfast will be in Tea-Houses (Lodges) and lunches in local restaurants en-route. We will provide you with hygienic food prepared by our cook on the camping trek arrangements. Most of the cooks in the local teahouses are not well trained but have enough experience. If the group required our well-trained cooks with the crew even on the lodge trek we are more delighted to take with an additional cost.

                                        • In the trekking areas most lodges serve boiled and filtered water, which is generally safe, we suggest a drop of iodine for safe water. Make sure your water is boiled or treated with iodine. Iodine is 100% effective in killing water-borne bacteria. We strongly recommend however that you bring your own filter water bottle so that you will have convenient access to clean water at all times. And it will be possible to buy the bottle water also on the way.

                                        • Most of the trekking areas in Everest we get electricity. You can charge your camera batteries. 

                                        • Our guides are trained in first aid and can deal with most of the basic ailments that can occur during a trek. If an emergency occurs, professional help from a rescue organization will be needed. That is why every client should have their own emergency rescue and health insurance arranged before coming to Nepal. 

                                        • Altitude illness, AMS is a very unpredictable condition, but all of our guides are very experienced with the symptoms and treatment of AMS. Every time our guides are ready to help you. We do, however, strongly advise people with known heart, lungs or blood diseases to consult their doctor before trekking.

                                        • That depends on the type of trek. Shorter treks at low altitudes can be done in running shoes while longer, more demanding treks at high altitudes require sturdy trekking or hiking boots. It is best to buy shoes and boots before arriving in Nepal, and to break them in before arriving for your trek. 

                                        • While you traveling Himalayan country this is most essential to know what to bring with you and what are the essential clothing and equipments during the travel. For evening/night/morning use clothes, Sun Hat, casual warm cloth for day use, some pairs of good quality shocks. Apart from above please bring- slippers, suntan-lotions and trekkers personal medication.   Regarding personal equipment you need to bring with you a pair of well broken trek Boot, sleeping bag, down-Jacket, pullovers, neck scarves, etc. 

                                        • There are telephones in many villages along the popular trekking routes from where you can make international calls.
