Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek is the classical trekking route to the heart of Everest region which was used by the Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary in their Mt. Everest expedition in 1953. It is one of the popular trekking trails in the world which offers the combination of natural and cultural beauty. This trekking provides the opportunity to the trekkers to explore the landscape of the whole Khumbu/ Everest region, green forest with rare wild animals and birds, lush valleys with the spectacular view of the giant world tallest mountains. In this trekking you can enjoy the fantastic vistas of the mountains like Mt. Everest (8848m.) the tallest mountain of the world, Mt. Lhotse , Mt. Nuptse , Mt. Amadablam , Mt. Pumori, Mt. Thamserku etc. as well as the culture and tradition of the ethnic Sherpa community. The Mani Rimbu dance performed in the Monastery as well as the Dumje festival of the Sherpa people will be the lifetime memory to the trekkers. 

The traditional route of Everest base camp trek begins from Jiri after 7/8 hours’ drive from Kathmandu. While travelling to Jiri you enjoy the natural beauty on the way. You can see the green terraced farm, people rafting in the Bhote Koshi River, Himalayan view, different waterfalls, swift flowing rivers, traditional villages on the way to Jiri. You can also take adventurous experience of bungee jumping in the Bhote Koshi River on the way. Once you start your walking from Jiri you are overwhelmed with the Nature’s beauty as well as the untouched culture of the ethnic inhabitants. En route you pass through the terraced green farm, beautiful rhododendron and pine forest, numerous ethnic settlements, valleys with the amazing view of the mountains and surrounding landscapes. Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu You arrive in Kathmandu and you meet our representative in the airport who will take you to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02Kathmandu City Tour Today you visit different historical and cultural sites of the Kathmandu valley with our guide. In the morning after having breakfast you go visit Buddhist and Hindu temples Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, which reflect the local culture and tradition of Nepalese society. Then in the afternoon you visit Kathmandu Durbar square and Patan durbar square. In the evening you will return to the Hotel.

Day 03Scenic Drive to Jiri (1905m.) This day early in the morning we take bus to Jiri through Araniko Highway. We cross the typical Newari villages of Dhulikhel and Banepa. After crossing these villages we can see the excellent panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas, including Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and Dorjee Lakpa. From Dolalghat we head north following the Sunkoshi River. We finally reach Jiri where we stay overnight.

Day 04Jiri to Deurali (2250m.) Jiri is also known as the Switzerland of Nepal. It is very beautiful place. From Jiri we start our walking and head to Deurali. On the way we ascend and descend the hill passing through forest and villages. Overnight at Deurali.

Day 05Deurali to Sete (2575m.) This day also we walk uphill and downhill to reach Sete, a small village. We cross Likhu Khola (River) and follow it to Kenja and then we ascend to Chimbu. We continue climbing up to Sete.

Day 06Sete to Junbeshi (2680m.) From Sete we gradually ascend to the Lamjura Pass (3530m.). From the Lamjura Pass we can see the panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. We cross it and then descend through the rhododendron, fir pine, magnolia, maple and birch forest and finally reach Junbeshi.

Day 07Junbeshi trek to Nunthala (2220m.) This day we cross the Junbeshi Khola and then walk in the ascending slope through the forest. After some hours of climbing we see the amazing view of the mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Nupte, Makalu, Thamserku, Mera Peak, and many more. We continue the trail to Salung and then descend to Ringmo Khola. Again we walk up hill and cross Trakshindo La pass and finally descend down to Nunthala through the conifer and rhododendron forests, and terraced fields.

Day 08Nunthala to Bupsa (2360m.) This day also we continue climbing down to the Dudh Koshi River. Then we follow the Dudh Koshi River and walk up ward to Khumbu. Then we climb to Jubing. From there we walk straight and descend to cross a suspension bridge and finally ascend to Bupsa Danda.

Day 09Bupsa to Puiyan (2796m.) From Bupsa we continue ascending up to Bhumsing through a tributary valley filled with prickly leaned oak and rhododendron forest. Then we continue walking north side of the valley to reach Puiyan (2796m.)

Day 10Puiyan to Phakding (2610m.) We continue our walk ascending on the ridge for 1 hour and then descend through another ridge to Sukhe situated on a tributary of the Dudh Koshi. Crossing the tributary we continue to Phakding.

Day 11Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440 m) From Phakding the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River and reaches Zamphuti. From here we can see excellent views of Thamserku peak. Then the trail climbs to Chomoa, the site of an agricultural project, an interesting place to have a look around and gain an insight into the farming way of life of these people. From Chomoa, the trail again climbs to Monjo (2840m.) and enters the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park (1148sq km, established in 1976). Walking some distance uphill you will be at Jorsale (2830m.) and after a long climb with views of Mt. Everest peeking over the ridge of Nuptse (7879m.) the trail reaches the street of Namche Bazaar. Stay at Guest house- Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast. O/N at Namche Bazaar (3420m.).

Day 12Acclimatization in Namche (3440m.) Today we take rest for the proper acclimatization with some excursion. We can hike to the Everest View Hotel, the ideal place to overview some of the outstanding mountains such as Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse etc. You can walk around the Khumjung valley, Hillary School and Khunde Hospital and then return back to Namche. In Namche Bazaar you can spend some time interacting with the fun-loving Sherpa and Rai people.

Day 13Trek to Tengboche Monastery (3860m.) This day we leave Namche bazaar and walk for some time along the ridge and then descend to Dudh Koshi River at Phunkithanka. Then after crossing the bridge we ascend in the steep path up to the Tengboche. On reaching Tengboche you will see the local monastery. Tengbohe have largest Monastery of Khumbu region. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 14Tengboche to Dingboche (4350m.) From Tengboche the trail drops to Debuche, crosses another exciting suspension bridge on the Imja Khola, and climbs to Pangboche amongst thousands of Mani stones. Our uphill trek continues, taking us to the quaint traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche with its exquisite views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. We take our time so we avoid getting affected by the altitude. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 15Rest day with some excursion Today you can enjoy another day for acclimatization. We will have trip to Chhukung valley via the Imja Khola valley to get a marvelous view of the surrounding mountains, especially Lhotse’s massive south wall, then return to Dingboche in the evening. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 16Dingboche Lobuche (4910m.) Today, the trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and passes by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. We continue to climb as we are heading to the altitude of 4910 meters at Lobuche which is really just a few huts at the foot of giant Lobuche peak. Some breathing problems may arise today due to the altitude. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 17Trek to Everest Base Camp (5365m.) then back to Gorak Shep (5180m.) This is another big and difficult day walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp at 5365 meters, the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. There will likely be a team there about to attempt the summit. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. We return back to Gorak shep for the night. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 18Hike to Kala Pattar (5545m.) and back to Pheriche (4120m.) This will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of the trek. In the morning we climb Mt. Kala Pattar, a small peak. From Kala Pattar we can see the most magnificent mountain panorama of Everest, the highest point on the planet at 8848 meters, towers directly ahead and other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. We make a quick descent to Gorak Shep, a tiny hamlet at 5180 meters then trek down to Pheriche. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 19Pheriche to Tengboche (3860m.) We retrace our route back to Tengboche via Pangboche. Overnight at Guesthouse

Day 20Tengboche to Namche (3440m.) We descend on the steep path to the Dudh Koshi and then climb up to Namche Bazaar. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 21Namche to Lukla (2840m.) Finally we return to Lukla where the trek began, which will seem like a lifetime ago. Enjoying time to reflect on the trek as a group and the personal achievement of all those who took part. Also giving you time to explore the town. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 22Flight to Kathmandu Enjoying your last glimpse of the mountains you have recently visited for one last time on the 35 minute Scenic flight back to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu we are met and transferred back to our starting hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 23Leisure day in Kathmandu. It's also spare day in case of bad weather in Lukla.

Day 24Departure. The trip ends, our Airport Representative will drop you to the Kathmandu International Airport for your flight departure from Nepal.
