Sagarmatha National Park

Besides Mount Everest,

there are other high mountains in Sagarmatha National Park. Some of these mountains are:

• Pumori (7,161 meters)

Sagarmatha National Park is not just about mountains. It also has rich wildlife and unique plants. The park’s plants change with altitude. At lower levels, you’ll find pine and hemlock forests. As you go higher, there are fir, juniper, birch and rhododendron. Above the tree line, there are alpine shrubs and meadows. The park is home to many animals including the endangered snow leopard, red panda, and musk deer and Himalayan tahr. There are also over 118 species of birds, such as the Himalayan monal and blood pheasant. The park is also home to the Sherpa people, known for their mountaineering skills and rich culture. Visitors can learn about Sherpa culture by visiting their villages, such as Namche Bazzar and Tengboche, which are stops on the way to Everest Base Camp.

The Sagarmatha National Park offers many adventure activities, like trekking, hiking, and peak climbing. 2. Peak Climbing: For those who want more adventure, there are smaller peaks to climb. Island Peak (6,189 meters) and Lobuche Peak (6,119 meters) are popular choices. Best Time to Visit: The best times to visit are during the pre-monsoon (March to May) and post-monsoon (September to November) seasons. During these times, the weather is usually clear and stable offering the best views and trekking conditions.
